Sarver Vision

How Dr. Sarver Sees the World

Dr. Sarver is known throughout the world as a visionary doctor. It's like he can see the results of your treatment in his mind before your treatment even begins. And now, through the use of software he helped to shape, he can show you what your result will be - and not just the position of your teeth after braces or Invisalign, but how your jawline, smile and face will be impacted. It's pretty cool and this video is just one example of how he sees the world and, more importantly, how he changes the world . . . one patient at a time.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that young children have their first orthodontic evaluation around age 7. That’s one of the reasons we offer a complimentary initial exam. It’s a great way to find out if your child has biological, functional or space issues with their teeth and jaw so that their treatment plan can be the least invasive. Dr. Sarver usually doesn’t recommend treatment until the child has all of his or her adult teeth (around age 12), but in some instances, early treatment can have a positive impact. Even kids who aren’t ready for treatment will receive an annual appointment to check their growth and make sure that, if treatment is needed, they’ll get started at the optimal time.

If you’ve been told your child should start treatment before they have all of their adult teeth, be sure to find out what Dr. Sarver would do before you make a decision. Some orthodontists use two-phases or treatment as a way to “capture” new patients at an early age, but Dr. Sarver only recommends this when there is a clear indication that it is the best approach. For younger patients who have clear indications for treatment, this treatment presents the opportunity to:

  • Influence jaw growth in a positive manner.
  • Harmonize width of the dental arches.
  • Improve tooth eruption patterns.
  • Lower risk of trauma to protruded upper incisors.
  • Correct harmful oral habits.
  • Improve esthetics and self-esteem.
  • Simplify and/or shorten treatment time for later orthodontics.
  • Reduce likelihood of impacted permanent teeth.
  • Improve some speech problems.
  • Preserve or gain space for erupting permanent teeth.

Between the ages of 11 and 15 is the most common time for orthodontic treatment – and for good reason. By 12, most if not all of the permanent teeth have erupted and are in place, and crooked teeth, gaps and bad bites can easily be treated. These problems will hardly ever correct themselves, so this is when most parents decide to seek orthodontic treatment.

For most teens, braces are a right of passage; something they share with other kids their age. Many can hardly wait until they can get their braces on – and that’s good for a number of reasons. While it’s never too late for orthodontic treatment, having braces or Invisalign as a teen lets us take advantage of the natural growth happening during these important developmental years. Their higher metabolism helps us shape the bite and teeth correctly, minimizes discomfort and helps us shorten overall treatment times in many cases.

More and more adults today are seeking orthodontic treatment to improve their smile. In fact, about 25 percent of our patients are adults! We offer a full range of treatments specifically designed for adults – leaving you with a dramatically different smile and healthier bite.

Orthodontic treatment is not only designed to improve the appearance of your smile, but improve the health of your teeth and gums as well. By seeking orthodontic treatment as an adult you can possibly avoid severe tooth decay, gum and bone loss, irregular wear of the tooth enamel, and TMJ/TMD pain.

Because adults are highly motivated to complete their orthodontic treatment they are usually more compliant with the instructions for wear and care of orthodontic appliances. This can result in treatment time that’s less than that for a teenager, with the same great results.

We offer a wide selection of braces to meet the individual needs and desires of each of our adult patients. From traditional metal braces, clear ceramic braces and lingual braces to clear aligners that can be worn to improve mild cases of misaligned teeth, we are confident we can help you achieve and maintain the beautiful, healthy smile you’ve always dreamed about.

Lingual Braces

Nearly Invisible

When the most discreet treatment is what you want, lingual braces are the answer. They are placed on the back of your teeth – so you’re the only one who ever needs to know you have braces. This is the choice for many of our patients who work in television or in the public eye – and one of the best things about this approach is the way it gives Dr. Sarver all the control he needs to get the best outcome.

We are proud to utilize the Insignia system, a revolutionary custom approach to orthodontics. Braces are generally manufactured for a wide range of patients;however, your smile is just your fingerprints – there’s not another one like it! Dr. Sarver utilizes the Insignia system as part of his customized approach to your treatment. We believe your braces should be custom-tailored to your teeth, your smile and your treatment plan. With the use of 3-D imaging, the Insignia system can create precision brackets and wires to better suit your needs, resulting in more comfort and a shorter treatment time for our patients.

We are certified to use Insignia’s cutting-edge technology. Contact us for more information on this new wave of technology.

Orthodontics With Surgery

For Severe Bite Issues

Surgical Orthodontics is often the treatment solution when the bite problem is so severe that orthodontic treatment isn’t enough to correct the problem, or where orthodontics alone would compromise your facial appearance. Why is it important to correct bite problems? Severe malocclusion (bad bite) may cause many functional problems, such as inability to chew food properly, speech difficulties, and facial dysfunction characterized by headaches, joint pain, and periodontal trauma, as well as self esteem issues related to the physical appearance relative to the bite. Orthognathic surgery can also be an important part of the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea.
